Visit San Antonio
Creating and executing an SEO strategy for a full domain migration and website rebuild.

The Client
VisitSanAntonio (VSA) is a tourism website designed to be the central hub of information for all your traveling and accommodation needs while visiting…you guessed it, the great city of San Antonio!
The challenge
What we did
VSA hired Boxer to design an SEO strategy to assist in the website migration from their old URL to their current one. Our goal was to achieve a stable and smooth transition to the new website and URL, making sure that organic traffic didn’t take a significant hit during the post-migration period.
Of course, we also wanted to see that traffic recover quickly and significantly improve in the months that followed.
The results
On launch day, traffic to the site had begun to rise slightly from some of the changes we were testing, to 245k users/mo. Subsequently, we saw a dip in traffic for a period of about one month post-launch. This was something that we had planned for and anticipated as being due to Google’s “algorithm confusion” while it gets reacquainted with the changes to the site.
We continued with our SEO optimizations, as planned. After 90 days, traffic to the site had grown to be higher than it was before the launch:
- Nearly double the number of monthly users
- A 71% increase in organic traffic within nine months
